Antora

Antora Playbook

antora:
  extensions:
    - require: "asciidoctor-iconify"

⚠️ WARNING
Do not add the asciidoctor-iconify to the asciidoc.extensions. It will not work because then the needed javascript will not be added to the site.

Add handlebars template

You have to change 1 file in your Antora UI bundle or by overwriting it via supplemental-ui:

  • add {{> iconify-scripts }} to partials/footer-scripts.hbs

If you do not want to change your UI bundle or when you use the default ui bundle you can simply put the following lines into supplemental-ui/partials/head-styles.hbs next to your antora playbook:

footer-scripts.hbs

<script id="site-script" src="{{{uiRootPath}}}/js/site.js" data-ui-root-path="{{{uiRootPath}}}"></script>
<script src="{{uiRootPath}}/js/vendor/lunr.js"></script>
<script src="{{uiRootPath}}/js/vendor/search.js" id="search-script" data-base-path="{{or siteRootPath (or site.url siteRootUrl)}}" data-page-path="{{@root.page.url}}"></script>
<script async src="{{uiRootPath}}/../search-index.js"></script>
# ...

{{> iconify-scripts }}

{{> iconify-scripts }} will be replaced with the content of the file iconify-scripts.hbs that provided by this extension.

iconify-scripts.hbs

<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/iconify-icon@1.0.8/dist/iconify-icon.min.js"></script>

VSCode

// add this to .asciidoctor/lib/asciidoctor-iconify.js when you have turned on the extension
module.exports = require('asciidoctor-iconfiy')

Details

Anatomy

The icon macro is an inline macro. Like other inline macros, its syntax follows the familiar pattern of the macro name and target separated by a colon followed by an attribute list enclosed in square brackets.

iconify:<target>[<attrlist>]

The <target> is the icon name or path. The <attrlist> specifies various named attributes to configure how the icon is displayed.

For example:

iconify:cil:locomotive[]

In this case it says that the icon is from the cil collection and the icon name is locomotive.

You can find all collections and icons at https://iconify.design/icon-sets/

Attributes

  • size
The size attribute is used to specify the size of the icon. The value is a number followed by a unit. The default is 1em. You can select also: 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, <number>px, <number>em
  • role
The role attribute is used to specify the color of the icon. The value is the name of the color. The default is defined by the icon itself.
  • title
The title of the image displayed when the mouse hovers over it.
  • flip
The flip attribute is used to specify the flip of the icon. The value is horizontal or vertical. The default is none.
  • rotate
The rotate attribute is used to specify the rotation of the icon. The value is 90, 180 or 270. The default is none.
  • link
The URI target used for the icon, which will wrap the converted icon in a link.
  • window
The target window of the link (when the link attribute is specified).
