Reqa

Simple Node.js HTTP Client request wrapper that supports calling middleware before and after the request.

Installation

npm install --save reqa

Usage

Sample usage:

reqa.get('https://nodejs.org/api/http.json', {
  pre: [
    insert_header('x-wat', 'whoop!')
  ],
  post: [
    json_body
  ],
  proxy: 'http://localhost:8888/'
}, function (req, res) {
  assert(res.json);
  done();
});

Sample pre function insert_header:

function inject_header(name, value) {
  return function (req, next) {
    req.setHeader(name, value);
    next();
  };
}

Sample post function json_body:

function json_body(res, next) {
  res.json = JSON.parse(res.body || '{}');
  next();
}

Options

The options supported are:

  • pre— An array of functions to call, in order, before making the request.
  • post — An array of functions to call, in order, after the request is complete before invoking the callback
  • proxy — A string value representing the proxy server to use for any requests
  • headers — A map of custom headers

Limitations

The current implementation only supports GET calls. Feel free to create a pull request adding any other methods you might need.
