fromNodeProgressCallback

(c)Bumblehead 2016

Converts a Node.js callback style function and progress function to an observable sequence.

The official rx library includes the method Rx.Observable.fromNodeCallback, which may be used to convert node.js style callbacks to an observable. fromnodeprogresscallback is a modified version of fromNodeCallback made to use "progress" functions.

It is made for the purpose in this example --converting an xhr blob request with a progess function.

fromnodeprogresscallback(rx, function (ctx, progressfn, fn) {
  var xhr = xdrgo.newRequest(),
      url = opts.url,
      blob;

  xhr.open("GET", url, true);
  xhr.responseType = 'blob';
  xhr.onreadystatechange = xdrgo.constructReadyState(xhr, function (xhr) {
    if (xdrgo.is2xxRe.test(xhr.status)) {
      blob = (window.webkitURL ? webkitURL : URL).createObjectURL(xhr.response);
      fn(null, blob);
    } else {
      fn(xhr);
    }
  });

  xhr.onprogress = progressfn;
  xhr.send();
}).subscribe(
  function (e) { console.log(e.type === 'progress' ? (e.loaded/e.total) * 100 : e); }
);
// => 8
// => 24
// => 38
// => 51
// => 70
// => 89
// => 100
