EMS Web Application Components: AWS Cognito Username/Password Authentication

The Cognito Angular.io module is authored for use within web applications developed by Educational Media Solutions.

This package includes a component, service and supporting classes that wrap the Amazon Cognito Identity SDK to enable simple username/password authentication.

You must set up the User Pool, App Client and Identity Pool in Cognito; this package supports SRP auth flow (i.e., username/password with User Pool) and Google Sign In. This package will be extended as we encounter different auth needs.

Styling is intentionally bare, you will need to customize the CSS to suit your UI requirements.

This library was generated with Angular CLI version 13.2.0.

Note: The Cognito SDK complains about a missing global property on the window; to hack a fix for this, add the below to the head tag of your index.html file

Supply your user pool and app client id in the attributes above. It is strongly recommended that you use the connecting callback to render a loader/status indicator while the component engages with the server.

The cognito-signin-url is optional and, when defined, will enable federated Google sign in (assuming you have configured this in your Cognito and Google Cloud consoles).

Code scaffolding

Run ng generate component component-name --project cognito to generate a new component. You can also use ng generate directive|pipe|service|class|guard|interface|enum|module --project cognito.

Note: Don't forget to add --project cognito or else it will be added to the default project in your angular.json file.

Build

Run ng build cognito to build the project. The build artifacts will be stored in the dist/ directory.

Publishing

After building your library with ng build cognito, go to the dist folder cd dist/cognito and run npm publish.

Running unit tests

Run ng test cognito to execute the unit tests via Karma.
