Installation

Using the Cordova 3 Command-line Interface:

cordova plugin add cordova-plugin-fileopener

If you are not using the Cordova Command-line Interface, follow Using Plugman to Manage Plugins.

The plugin manages theses extensions:

.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .rtf, .wav, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .txt, .mpg, .mpeg, .mpe, .mp4, .avi, .ods, .odt, .ppt, .pptx, .apk

Usage

cordova.plugins.FileOpener.canOpenFile

Return if default application to open a file is set on the device.

window.cordova.plugins.FileOpener.canOpenFile(FILE_URL, SUCCESS_CALLBACK, ERROR_CALLBACK);

Parameters

• FILE_URL: The file URL.

• SUCCESS_CALLBACK: The callback that is passed the result boolean.

• ERROR_CALLBACK: (Optional) The callback that executes if an error occurs.

Example

// onSuccess Callback
// This method accepts a JSON object, which contains the
// boolean response
//
var onSuccess = function(data) {
    alert('extension: ' + data.extension + '\n' +
          'canBeOpen: ' + data.canBeOpen);
};

// onError Callback receives a json object
