To help realize this future, we've built stdlib. stdlib is a standard library, with an emphasis on numerical and scientific computation, written in JavaScript (and C) for execution in browsers and in Node.js.

The library is fully decomposable, being architected in such a way that you can swap out and mix and match APIs and functionality to cater to your exact preferences and use cases.

A list of English words rated for valence.

Returns a list of 2477 English words (and phrases) rated for valence. Negative words have a negative valence ([-5,0)). Positive words have a positive valence ((0,5]). Neutral words have a valence of 0.

  • The list includes misspelled words. Their presence is intentional, as such misspellings frequently occur in social media content.
  • All words are lowercase.
  • Words may contain numbers; e.g., n00b.
  • Some "words" are phrases; e.g., cool stuff, not good.

  • Words may contain diaeresis; e.g., naïve.
  • Words may contain dashes; e.g., self-deluded, self-confident.
